Goal of the project:
As much as we prepare for class and make reasoned predictions about student responses, inevitably, in both small and large ways, things do not go as planned. We will, in this group, work together to both prepare for classes so that the class plans are designed to foster an environment where critical thinking skills are developed and discuss ways to respond helpfully to unexpected classroom situations to make the most of these situations to foster critical thinking skills.
Participants will agree to:
· Regular meetings with other participants in the group, organized by Jennifer (once every two weeks — with food and adult beverage).
· Maintaining a teaching journal — that will remain confidential between Jennifer and the instructor.
· One meeting with Jennifer prior to beginning of semester. Other individual meetings during the semester on a need or want basis. One final meeting after the semester ends.
· Participants will receive $1000. $500 will be paid after the initial meeting with Jennifer. The other $500 will be paid after a final meeting with Jennifer to discuss the end of the semester final teaching journal reflections.
Participation limited to 10 FYS Instructors.
