2023 Nelson Student Research Symposium

Showcasing high-quality student research related to international and global topics across the disciplines.

Over the last five years, Drake students have participated in an opportunity to share their research to the Drake community on wide ranging topics including international law and matters of reproductive rights and forced sterilization, ecosystems in Indonesia, global health care systems, US presence in Israel and Palestine, political protest, human rights issues, etc. Besides providing our students home court experience in academic presentations while they obtain useful feedback, the symposia have been and continue to be a testament of how Drake provides "an exceptional learning environment that prepares students for. . .responsible global citizenship.”

This year's theme is "Social Impact and Responsibility," built around the UN’s current Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Nelson Students Research Symposium will feature students from our various academic units presenting their research work on topics tied to the SDGs, including "Quality Education," "Climate Action," "Good Health and Wellbeing," and "Gender/Peace, Justice, & Strong Institutions."
