A Thin But Powerful Difference: Race | Embodiment

Curated by Dr. Lenore Metrick-Chen and the Race / Art Curating Class 2022

We know ourselves through our own embodiment. At times, race is used to define us in a way diametrically opposed to how we know our self to be. That power struggle leads to a pivot point and we must act. Through 12 extraordinary artworks, accompanied by rare historical artifacts, this exhibition confronts and explore issues of race and embodiment in our nation, focusing on Iowa and Iowa’s racial history.
