Join Drake's Anderson Gallery LIVE on Facebook on Thursday, September 24 at 7pm for an artist talk by sculptor and performance artist, Indira Allegra. Indira Indira uses weaving to explore memorial as a genre and a vital part of the human experience. Indira is a 2019-20 Burke Prize winner and teaches graduate art at Mills College in in Oakland, California.
Her work on documenting disability is included in Threads Laid Bare, an exhibition of contemporary textiles and fiber based art on view in the Anderson Gallery through October 16. The exhibit is curated by Art and Design Professor Emily Newman and is sponsored by the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
