About this Event

Join alumni and friends on Wed. April 13 to hear faculty from the Department of Political Science share their perspectives on the ongoing war in Ukraine. Panelists will provide insight on the history of the conflict and region, the international security dynamics that are shaping the war, and the limitations of international law as a tool for responding to the crisis. The panel will include significant time for questions from attendees. Register here.

Panelists:

  • David Skidmore is a professor in the Department of Political Science at Drake University. He teaches courses in international relations. His research focuses on U.S. foreign policy, US-China relations and international political economy.
  • Debra L. DeLaet is the David E. Maxwell Distinguished Professor of International Affairs at Drake University. She is the author of several books, numerous articles, and book chapters on human rights, global health, and global gender issues. She also serves as part-time Executive Director of the Iowa United Nations Association.
  • Kieran Williams is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at Drake. He is a specialist in the politics and recent history of Central and Eastern Europe, and his publications include a prize-winning study of the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968.
