An FYS instructor who participates in this project will have a one-semester commitment.
Participants commit to the following:
· Before the fall semester begins, meet with the project coordinator (Carrie Dunham-LaGree) to discuss your information literacy plans for the course.
· During the first week of classes, have your students complete a 15-question information literacy baseline assessment.
· Have at least one assignment that emphasizes information literacy and requires students to use library resources. As part of this assignment, students should briefly describe how they conducted their research for this assignment. Participants will submit student work by the end of the semester.
· Have at least one class session for students to work with a librarian, scheduled in coordination with your research assignment(s). This session will be designed and scheduled around your course and assignment(s).
Faculty participating in this FYS information literacy project will receive $1000.
The first $500 of this stipend will be paid after the initial meeting with the Coordinator of Information Literacy. Faculty will receive an additional $500 for completing the project.
Participation will be limited to no more than 10 FYS instructors.
If you are an FYS instructor that would like to participate, send your requests to Sandra Harris (firstname.lastname@example.org) by April 29, 2019 at 4:30 pm.
