An FYS or other instructor who participates in this program will have a one-semester commitment, which will include
-- Working with the Jody Swilky on the development of a writing assignment or writing project.
-- Meeting before the semester commences, or during the first or second week of the semester, with Jody to discuss the development of assignments or a writing project as well as other matters such as response to writing.
-- Attending a 90- minute meeting of all participants in the program in October and November 2019.
-- Requiring all students enrolled in the FYS or the class in which the instructor is working on writing to attend The Writing Workshop at least twice during the semester as students work on developing writing in response to assignments or as part of a writing project.
-- Attending a final meeting of all instructors participating in the program to be held at the end of the fall 2019 semester.
After the initial meeting(s) with Jody to develop a writing assignment or writing project, participants will receive as stipend of $500. After completing the pilot and attending the final meeting, participants will receive an additional $500.
Participation will be limited to 10 instructors.
First priority is for those teaching FYS for the first time. Second priority is those who attend the May writing workshop. The third priority is to have a mixture of FYS faculty and faculty from across the University.
