Dr. Maura Lyons will give a lecture on her current research in conjunction with the exhibition Solving Problems: Drake Art & Design Faculty Exhibition. The event is free and open to the public.
Maura Lyons is an art historian who specializes in the art and architecture of the United States. She earned her master’s degree and doctorate in art history from Boston University and her B.A. from Georgetown University. She is author of one book, William Dunlap and the Construction of an American Art History (University of Massachusetts Press), and multiple journal articles on the visual culture of the U.S. Civil War. She has curated four exhibitions for the Anderson Gallery, three of which were supported by external grant funding, and delivered the 37th Annual Stalnaker Lecture. Her current book project is titled “Reckoning with Trauma: Intermedial Visual Culture and the Civil War North.” She has taught at Drake for more than twenty years.
Solving Problems: Drake Art & Design Faculty Exhibition is open from Feb 1-March 8, 2024. The Anderson Gallery is open Tues-Sun 12-4pm and open late on Thurs until 8pm. Admission is free and open to all and free parking is available on 25th Street.
