Let's Talk About It: Mental Health as a Student of Color

Mental health concerns can be very difficult to discuss and process, especially as a student of color. Students of color often experience additional difficulties, such as marginalization, racism, exclusion, assimilation, etc that can significantly impact mental health as well.

This event will focus on creating a space of healing and discussion with a panel of Drake Graduates of Color, where the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end. Supported by a grant from the American Psychiatric Association Division of Diversity and Health Equity and the American Psychiatric American Foundation, the counseling center was able to fund this panel event and programming specific to students of color.

Although the primary focus is for Students of Color, all students, allies, and Drake population are encouraged to attend. In addition, student will have the opportunity to receive raffles prizes to build their mental health toolbox.

*Free desserts and a raffle for Self-care Prizes will occur (i.e. weighted blankets, depression light lamps, etc). The first 50 students will receive a free self-care journal!

We hope to see you there!
