Service through the Black Panther's Party Survival Programs

The Office of Community Engaged Learning is inviting you and your students the opportunity to learn about the Black Panther Party impact in Des Moines through their community service efforts, organized through their Survival Programs.

The event will be organized as a panel that will allow students the opportunity to hear from those that were involved in the Black Panther Party movement and nonprofits that form their service under similar missions. Ako Abdul-Samad is the Iowa State Representative will be one of the four featured panelists that will drive the conversation of service, community engagement and supporting nonprofit initiatives.

The event will also showcase photos that chronologically display the history of the Black Panther Party in relation to the neighborhood we reside in today.
