About this Event

https://www.drake.edu/english/susanglaspellwriterscriticsseries/Join us for a talk presented by Dr. Lissette Lopez Szwydky on “Transmedia Adaptation and the History of Storytelling”
When we think of adaptation, we typically think of books adapted into film and television and other contemporary forms. However, adaptation across forms and media is a cultural practice as old as storytelling itself. This talk will dive into the history of transmedia adaptation and how it evolved into the commercial, cultural powerhouse it is today.
Those interested in the creative diversity of storytelling and adaptation—across novels, paintings, theater, cinema, & more—are especially encouraged to join us!
Event is free and open to the campus community and the public. Our program runs an hour long and includes light refreshments, a public lecture, and Q&A.
